Like the lesser bushbaby the thick-tailed bushbaby is very cute and cuddly in appearance, but it has a more brownish grey color. The thick-tailed bushbaby prefer forests and well developed woodland areas.

They are very vocal with a variety of calls, sometimes sounding like the cries of a baby. The thick-tailed bushbaby have excellent nightvision and mostly come out at night to gather food and eat. While mainly eating resin & gums gathered from the bark of various trees, bushbabies occasionally feast on berries, fruit, insects and bird eggs. They often supplement their diet with small birds and reptiles as well.

The adult thick-tailed bushbaby weights around 1.2 kilograms and is considerably larger than the lesser bushbaby.

Bushbabies give birth to 1-2 young per year.
